How to get started with Machine Learning and Apple’s CoreML (and solving diabetes)

We’re using machine learning to solve diabetes, and we’re excited about the progress and the possibilities. Like diabetes, machine learning is a vast and truly interdisciplinary field that spans computer science, statistics, signal processing, data processing, and more.

Back in November, I was invited to give a talk to an audience of iOS developers and Apple engineers at Apple’s Covent Garden Office in London. My goal for the talk was to ensure that no-one left the room without being able to answer the following two questions:

1. What sort of problems can machine learning solve?
2. How does Apple’s Core ML fit into the picture, and how can you get started with it?
