We’ve been working at home for three weeks now here at Quin. All of us are gearing up for our launch later in June. Despite COVID-19 and the sudden change in our routines, we’re still excited. It’s been 5 years in the making after all.
Here’s a quick glimpse of how our work routine has changed, highlighting what a day in the life of Quinners in different parts of the business starting with our Content Producer.
My alarm goes off
At 7.30. I typically get a much needed coffee before heading to the work station (now also known as my living room). I check my diary and start going through emails. Both personal and work-related. In my role, part of my job is to continue to find inspiration behind the types of assets I will create. I’ve become quite mindful in the emails I subscribe to and the content I keep my eyes peeled on. The photo album on my iPhone has become a museum filled with inspiration lately.
I use the early part of the morning to revisit any assets I created the day before with a fresh eye, and go over the feedback my colleague has given me for it. This part of my day has become important to me having not realised the positive impact of having a break from an asset you’re creating can make. I’ll also do some social listening to see what’s happened overnight, and what may be trending and catch any major news that’s been going on in the diabetes technology world.
My typical day
Then depends on the deadlines I have for either stylo pieces, or pieces I may be collaborating with other team members on. In between these tasks, I’ve started trying to keep a list of content ideas that I come up with from meetings or simple idle chatter we have. You truly never know when inspiration strikes.
Even though we may be safer indoors, it has undoubtedly affected my level of creativity (and many others in the creative community). The other day, I noticed several get-togethers between designers aiming to diffuse this. For me personally, I’ve been having check-ins with our Head of Marketing which helps- she really has got an eye for what good looks like and is great with feedback. I also visit sites such as Behance and Dribbble regularly and have started reading more design-related books. Thank goodness for Amazon still delivering.
After work
I’ve learnt to pull a hard stop when the end of workday arrives. Typically after work, I go out to check off our once-a-day exercise allowance. Usually a brisk walk around the block, or a trip to the grocery store. I haven’t been brave enough to venture out to the park just yet. I then either get tucked into a good book, or K-Drama. Right now I’m watching Rugal, and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good action/thriller tv series.
